How to make a silver plated wreath from a thrift store repurposed chalkboard
One year, I presented a project – a repurposed paintings turned wreath at the Habitat For Humanity Workshop that I hosted. I was able make another sample for a second project, which involved transforming old silver platters that I found during my thrifty treasure hunting.
The Silver Plate: How to Polish it
It’s a great score to find a silver platter in a thrift shop, but you will need to clean it up. This one was nearly all black. Wright’s Silver Cream was used. The cream was easy to use, and it came with a sponge. Rub the cream directly on the plate with the sponge and then rinse with water. To dry the cream, use a soft towel.
You can see in the photos that I was unable to remove some of the tarnish. It was even more suitable for an upcycled look.
Painting with Chalkboard paint
It took me almost three hours to complete this project because I used three coats and let each one dry for an hour between coats. I used Martha Stewart chalkboard paint.
