Flea Market finds: Repurpose them in interesting ways
Have you ever been to an antique store and couldn’t tell what something was? You may know what it is, but would like to learn more about its history or uses. You may even see something you like and already know what you will do with it once you get it home. This happens to me a lot, so I decided to come up with some creative ideas on how I can repurpose the items I find at flea markets.
Start with something that I didn’t know at first.
Repurposed Flower Frogs
I also love green. I love metal. This is why I’ve always been attracted to metal ma-jigs. This is what I called them. They were everywhere. It turned out they were flower frogs. Not only are they metal, but also made of glass or plastic. They are used to arrange flowers in vases, similar to the green foam that we use now. From the 1910s until the 1950s, they were very popular. flower frog ideas was the subject of a whole post. They can be used for anything from holding paintbrushes to jewelry.
Repurposed Vintage Door Knobs
Crystal door knobs have always been a favorite of mine. This is the tutorial I wrote about repurposing an old door knob to a photo holder. I wrote another tutorial on how to upcycle vintage door knobs. These are not easy to find. Some dealers will charge a fortune for these, even though they are easily available. If you’re interested in buying one from a flea-market, get used to haggling.
