DIY Craft Organization Board This painting I found while cleaning out unwanted garage sale items was about to hit the trash can. Luckily for me, I managed to snag several before they made it there and would eventually meet their demise in the dump. Since I am turning my office into a craft room…yay…, this old painting became the focal point for a craft organization board for my craft room…yay…! Just as with making one for my daughter’s room using an old painting and her first baby blanket… this one truly became my treasure… making this piece of trash my treasure!

On this particular frame, the canvas popped right out. Since it had been attached with nails, I carefully removed these. After doing so, I carefully cleaned both canvas and frame as best as I could.
I chose this frame with its delightful natural fiber edge as my target project, so I needed to use painter’s tape to protect its edges from paint splashes during assembly. Instead of spray painting it – which would have been faster and simpler – I applied two coats of paint.
