Thanksgiving Sign Upcycling Project: A DIY Approach

Repurposed DIY Thanks Giving Sign Made From A Cabinet Door

I decided to take a short break from Halloween posts in order to share the repurposed DIY sign I created. It’s true, I love stenciling and found it very enjoyable to make this sign using a cabinet door that I purchased for $2.99. I also used the habitat for Humanity. This is how I did it.

Notes Attics of My Life sold me the Fusion Mineral paint. You can contact her via on her Facebook page and purchase it. Tell her that DIY Inspired sent your way! The stencils I used were purchased at iStencil.com. The letters are 3″ Industrial font. They are used for so many different projects!

How to Make a Thanksgiving Sign

After allowing the paint to dry between coats, I painted my door with two coats. After the paint dried, I first stenciled my words in pencil onto the sign. So I could check the spacing. Once I was happy, I began stenciling. I started stenciling from the outside. This was the fastest way to save time. I used an up-and-down spouncer. Start the next letter after the paint has dried to the touch.

I stenciled “give thanks” and “gather together” with lowercase letters. It was displayed on my buffet table in my dining area. If desired, you can add a hook to the back of your card so that it can be hung on a wall.

Here are some AFTER pictures of my DIY Thanksgiving Sign.
