Fiskars’ new DIY tool line: A folding chair makeover
Do you know the feeling you get in a thrift shop when you keep returning to a certain item because you can’t decide whether you want to buy it? Even though it was in my line of sight, I felt anxious when I saw another person looking at it. This is how I felt as I saw the old folding chair. The chair was all on its own for only $15. It was solid but lacked its partner.
It was a good decision. It’s a wonderful piece that can be stored easily and is perfect for guests or as a chair in my craft room or bedroom. Before I share this tutorial, I’d like to share something that is special. It involves some of my tools used in the makeover.
Fiskars’ DIY line: My involvement
Since over three years, I’ve been working with Fiskars and was fortunate to be able to participate in the development of their new DIY tool line. I was part of a small panel of DIY and Craft bloggers who reviewed and tested prototypes in a creative studio. We tested the Precision Hammer and Nail Starter, as well as the Precision Screwdriver. We spent time touching and testing each tool, as well as discussing our honest opinions. We used them on different materials and for various crafts. I had a wonderful time, especially because I was with some amazing bloggers.
I remember feeling privileged, and I felt a sense accomplishment because I not only admired the brand but also the other panelists. I felt valued in a small setting.
In this tutorial I will be using the screwdriver and hammer. The hammer is designed with multiple hand positions, and its weight has been optimized for precision and power. I’ve used it to build large woodworking projects as well as makeovers of small furniture.
